To develop international exchange and to promote friendship and mutual understanding with host cities by introducing life culture, accomplishments, art, music, fashion, sports, economics, and so forth.

The Friendship Force (headquarters: Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A.) is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization that was established under the advocacy of former U.S. president Jimmy Carter in 1977 for the purpose of "enabling citizens of different countries to live together in the form of home-stay programs and discover differences and similarities in their way of thinking and their culture in order to promote world peace through deepening of mutual understanding". International Friendship Foundation maintains correspondence with related agencies and organizations, both at home and abroad International Friendship Foundation in Japan that support its activities in order to provide a broad range of support for these international home-stay exchange activities (The Friendship Force activities).

(a)Holding of symposiums, seminars and conferences
To hold symposiums, seminars, conferences and so on both in Japan and overseas attended by members of the national Diet and local assemblies, officials of national governmental agencies and local governments, various regional leaders and representatives of non-governmental organizations in order to hold discussions about the future of international exchange between Japan and other countries and how to further develop the program.

(b) Implementation of personnel exchanges
To activate exchange of personnel between members of the national Diet and local assemblies, officials of national and governmental agencies and local governments, regional leaders and related citizen's groups and organizations in Japan and other countries to deepen the awareness of exchange activities and promote art, culture, sports, economics, and so on.

(c) Promotion of sister-city exchanges and affiliations
To promote sister-city exchange as a basis of exchange with foreign countries, cities and regions.

(d) Promotion of sister schools and exchanges and tie-ups between friendship organizations and clubs
To promote exchange between educational institutions and private service organizations to develop international exchange at the grass roots level.

(a) Gathering and offering of information about regions
To gather information about art, culture, sports and so on in various regions in Japan in order to offer them to foreign countries. And, to collect activity information about art, culture, sports, and so on in foreign countries through Japan Week and other programs, in order to offer them to related agencies and groups in Japan.

(b) Gathering and offering of information relating to international exchange activities
To gather information on international exchange carried out by various regions and organizations in Japan and to offer them to related agencies and organizations in Japan and abroad.
